Without using punctuation, writing on a topic would be
confusing or misleading. For example :
Let’s eat, Moshi! (You are asking Moshi to eat.)
Let’s eat Moshi! (You are saying that you want to eat
Moshi!)
Types of Punctuation:
There are various types of punctuation. These are:
The period/ full stop (.) mark is used to end a sentence. For example:
I like anime. My favorite anime is One Piece.
2. Comma (,)
This mark ‘comma’ (,) is used to show a pause, list items, or separate ideas.
For example:
I play games, watch anime, and read manga.
3. Question Mark (?)
The Question mark (?) is used to end a question.
For Example:
Do you like gaming?
4. Exclamation Mark (!)
The exclamation mark (!) shows strong emotion or surprise.
For Example: That was amazing!
5. Colon (:)
Colon(: ) sign introduces a list, explanation, or quote.
For example: Bring these: a notebook, pen, and ruler.
6. Semicolon (;)
Semicolon (;) connects two related sentences.
For example: I studied hard and passed the test.
7. Quotation Marks (“ ”)
Quotation marks (“ “) show what someone is saying.
For example: He said, “I love reading comics.”
8. Apostrophe (')
The apostrophe (‘) shows possession or contractions.
For example:
Moshi’s book (belonging to Moshi) is new.
It’s raining (It is raining) all day long.
9. Parentheses ( )
Parentheses add extra information.
For example:
I’m going to Dhaka (the capital of Bangladesh) next week.
10. Dash (—)
This mark adds emphasis or interruption.
For example:
I was shocked — completely speechless!
11. Ellipsis (...)
Ellipsis shows something is left out or a pause.
For example:
I was thinking... maybe we shouldn’t go.
